Free Download Manager is exactly what it says it is - an application that looks after your downloads, whether direct links, flash video or torrents.Free Download Manager? It is a powerful, easy-to-use and absolutely free download accelerator and manager. Moreover, FDM is 100% safe, open-source software distributed under GPL license. There are basic downloads, from links you enter, Flash video downloads from a small selection of popular video sites, torrent downloads and a few more. Each part is relatively easy to use, and you can simply drag download links into Free Download Manager's floating drop box. The application works, but it feels clunky and old fashioned. We would recommend sticking with your browser's download manager alongside a dedicated torrent client if you need it.

download location - fdm Portable will default to X:\Downloads as the location for any files you download by default. You can alter this by right-clicking each folder (Music, Other, Software, Video) and entering a new location. The string %sdrive% in the location indicates the current drive letter X:\ and should be left there with your selected path including it. The only time it is recommended that you alter this string is if you are running FDM Portable from a synced cloud drive (like Dropbox, Google Drive, etc) in which case it is recommended that you use %userprofile% so that it will remain in your synced drive across PCs. This would be in the form %userprofile%\Google Drive,%userprofile%\Documents\My Dropbox or similar.Using the power of this free download manager and accelerator you can retrieve files and complete websites up to 600% faster than before. It utilizes the entire bandwidth of your internet connection even if you download from slow web sites.Features of the download manager include: integration with Internet Explorer, Opera, Mozilla and FireFox, powerful scheduler, downloading from mirrors, adjusting traffic usage, ZIP file and audio/video preview.

Internet Download Manager 2014 Free Download

The name might not be the most creative, but the Internet Download Manager does exactly what it promises: helps you download and organize files. The best part is that you can schedule downloads and use filters to get the specific files you want.

The compact interface is packed with options, but the main features are easily accessed from a toolbar at the top. We would have liked to see a bit more user guidance up front, but a tutorial does cover the basics, and there is a more detailed Help file if you get stuck. You can also go the easier route with the program's integrated Web browser options, which work with nearly all of the most popular browsers, including Internet Explorer and Firefox. Each time the program recognizes a video in FLV format on a site like YouTube, you'll see a button, and it's one click and you're off and running. From the main interface, all you have to do is add the URL for a video to get started. A new window shows you the status and allows you to pause the recording and set up a few options for what to do with the file once the download completes. As advertised, the speed was good and we didn't have any issues with test files we downloaded, which included MP3s, FLVs, and MPEGs. Our favorite feature was the scheduler, which was easy to set up and lets you choose where and when the program will download files. We especially liked the fact that if you lose your Internet connection, the program will resume downloading your selected or scheduled files once everything's up and running again.

The download and installation of IDM was easy and fast, and it uninstalled cleanly. If you're looking for a program that you can basically set and forget to video downloads, this is a good option.
